Woah! That was fast. A new model of the DSi has been announced. Head on over to GoNintendo and the official site (Japanese) for more information!

This model is quite a bit larger than the DSi. YA THINK? The screens are both 4.2′’ and the stylus is more pen like. It also weighs 50% more and comes with some Brain Training games pre-installed.

This is actually pretty interesting because this model is clearly designed for your mother. Yes. YOUR MOTHER! Ok, maybe just people past 50. The pen is easier to hold, the screens are easier to see, and it isn’t nearly as portable as the DSi or DS Lite. My mother actually uses a DS Phat because she has a much easier time holding it. However those DS Phat screens are hard on the eyes, this is the perfect upgrade for her.

What’s that? You feel bad that you got a DSi just a couple months ago? Let me cheer you up. Consider that while the size of the screens has increased dramatically, the resolution of those screens has not. Also consider that you’re going to be hard pressed to slip this in your pocket. Now look at that lipstick colored shell. That’s why this isn’t designed for you, it’s for your mom! On a side note, this is not announced outside of Japan.

I could on about all the games that came out over the last … month… like You Me and the Cubes, Final Fantasy, ARKANOID Plus, and other fine (and not so fine) titles. But all you need to know is that Altered Beast was released… again? That’s right Altered Beast is so awesome they released it twice.
