Flipnote Studio released in Europe and US… for free!

Flipnote Studio, also known as Moving Memopad, is a simple to use, but powerful animation program for the DSi. When I saw it from Japan I knew I wanted it and I was ready to pay. But surprise it’s suddenly available to the rest of the world today for free, and it’s not even update monday! So if you have a DSi go grab Flipnote Studio, because it’s awesome and with a robust online component to boot. Plus since it’s free it’s pretty much a standard feature to the DSi platform now just like the Opera Browser.

Want to see some things made with Flipnote? All the animations can be uploaded to the website for viewing on the PC or DS at www.Flipnote.Hatena.com

Nintendo Download 18

This week looks pretty awesome in terms of downloadable games.

For WiiWare we’ve got NyxQuest, a 2D platform adventure game, and … HAHAHAHA Rock N’ Roll Climber, heck yeah!

This week also kicks off a series of Star Wars games coming to the VC, and this week it’s Super Star Wars on the SNES. There will also be Star Wars character Mii contests in the Check Mii Out channel.

Then on DSiWare the next little portion of Brain Age shows up with Brain Age: Arts & Letters.

More information inside.

DSi Firmware Update 1.4 U

For all you DSi owners out there a firmware update is available for download as of now. The main feature added is the ability to directly upload pictures taken with the DSi directly to your Facebook account if you have one. Don’t have Facebook? That’s ok, you should still get the update simply because I’ve noticed it makes all the pictures load much faster than before. I just tried the feature out, seems to work just fine.

Nintendo Download 17

Woah woah woah. What is going on here? This lineup looks weird. Let’s take a look.

For WiiWare we’ve got Overturn, and fighting game of sorts that has the option to be played with the balance board, and Sexy Poker? Really? And it’s $5?

Then over the VC the classic football game Tecmo Bowl bursts onto the field with a really fun looking DSiWare game walking behind it called Art Style: precipice, a game in which blocks fall from the sky… AND TRY TO KILL YOU.

This is just bizzare. When did Nintendo decide to allow an application like strip poker? On a side note later today DSi owners will apparently get the ability to directly upload photos to facebook from the DSi. No dropping to an SD card required. So yeah, after all the effort to try to protect my innocent soul from the bad men on the internet Nintendo goes ahead and let me directly upload photos of various parts of my body (like my face obviously) to the internets. Ironically last time I checked Facebook doesn’t work worth a damn on the DSi internet browser. So yeah. Today is bizzaro day, and in celebration have some Reggie stare.
