Boy I sure do regret getting behind on this update stuff. I mean come on, it’s just a post a week right? Is that so much to ask? Probably not, but for reasons I will probably announce soon I sometimes get this stuff up late. Don’t worry I’m not dying of some horrible disease or anything. Enough excuses for now. I just wanted to make it clear I’m not getting these update up to spite you, at least not personally. As a group maybe just because that sounds like fun.

Let’s just run down through these names here. First up is WiiWare. We’ve got FFCC: My Life as a Darklord, Battle Poker, 5 Spots Party, Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1, The Three Musketeers: One for All, and HB Arcade Cards. Whew.

Now on the VC side of things there’s…. wait…. no VC games? Ugh. Look I know you may think that the VC may not be making as much money as you’d like, and that may be true, but it would help if the selection was better. And while I’m at it I might as say that it would help for me personally if there were some sort assurance that when the next hardware cycle comes around that I’ll be able to transfer my games over to it. DSi for example. Otherwise the service has lost it’s major advantage of physically just buying these games.

Ok now for DSiWare we’re got two titles. Art Style: ZENGAGE (heh, reminds me of N-Gage) and Sudoku Student.

As always! Full details inside.

DSi Mario Calculator Easter Egg

So when it came out I downloaded the Mario Calculator for DSi. I know, it’s just a calculator and it costs $2, but you know what? I did it anyway because the draw of crispy 8-bit visuals is just too much for me (it does unit conversions as well you know!). But anway, I was calculating the number of cats one would have to jump over in order to blow your mind when all of the sudden…

Really I should have thought of this earlier since it’s so similar to another sort of easter egg from the Super Mario Bros on the NES.

This also works for the Animal Crossing version of the calculator (with a different result). I’m asking a friend to take a video of that one.
The instructions on how to do this are inside if you can’t figure it out from the video.

WiiWare is picking up recently. There’s some nice stuff on the service now, and lot’s of “!”’s. This week there’s Bit Boy!!, Incoming!, and Ant Nation (no !). They all look solid.

On the VC front it’s Sega week with Secret Command from the Master System and Pulseman from the Genesis.

Then on brand new DSiWare there’s a Brain Challenge from Gameloft.

This week marks the 100th WiiWare title to become available for the service in the North American regions.

I’m going to go ahead and assume that the 100th title is inface BIT.TRIP.CORE and not BUST-A-MOVE Plus!, even though both seem equally awesome. I think we can all agree it’s not Heracles Charior Racing. Sorry Heacles.

On the VC there’s a C64 game that was classic for the platform, California Games. So akward, yet so intriging.

Then on DSiWare there’s something that looks very interesting. Art Style: BASE 10, oh and Asphalt 4: Elite Racing. Whatever. BASE 10 YO.

Check out Michael Jackson’s Arcade!

Michael Jackson’s private arcade is pretty awesome, and you can take a virtual tour of it! It’s a nice mix of new and classics. I found Revolution X, but I can’t find Moonwalker! What gives!? But there’s some cool stuff in there like the Sega R360, neat statues, trinkets, home game system displays, and pinball machines.

This week’s new downloadable games include a trio of WiiWare titles - two built around water-themed challenges and one designed to keep your mental chops in top shape. For Virtual Console, you’ll find a memorable SEGA character making his return in a classic single-player sci-fi adventure. Rounding out the lineup is a new Nintendo DSiWare title that’s sure to have sudoku fans reaching feverishly for the nearest stylus.

Bit late here… about let’s see… two weeks late? Yeah… let’s get this out of the way.

WiiWare is up first. There’s three titles … this… week. Drill Segeant Mindstron, a party game, NEVES Plus, a nice little puzzle game, and Family Mini Golf which is, and this is going to blow your mind, a mini golf game.

For DSiWare we’re got another entry in the Art Style series from Nintendo. This time it’s BOXLIFE which honestly look pretty bad ass. I may have to check that one out.

Then on the VC there’s a odd suprise. Sim Earth for TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM. I only ever played the SNES version, which was… ok.
