Virtual Console 101 + WiiWare 28 Update

LATE ON THE VC AND WIIWARE UPDATES AGAIN?! Yeah. I am. But hey, I’ve been busy! … Now before you can detect any hint of a lie there let’s focus your attention over here!

For WiiWare we have Boingz and Sudoku Challenge!. Not much to say there other than Boingz looks like it might be milding amusing (although personally I’d say go with something like World of Goo).

Then for the VC there’s a surprise. Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure for Genesis (this was also released on SNES). I didn’t think this game would ever show up ever again. Also, welcome back to the 90’s.

There’s a couple strange things about this update. Well, I mean, there’s Boogerman, but Boingz seems strange to me. Why? Because it’s being released by RealArcade, which is a PC digital download portal for games. Sort of interesting they’re releasing stuff on the Wii portal.

More details inside. (I promise I’ll be on time next week!)

GO VOTE FOR CD-I LINK

GameFaqs often has their Character Battle in which people can vote from a list of characters. The character with the most votes wins and continues on in the matches. This time, which is typical, Link has won… but now the question remains… which version of Link is the winner!?

AND THAT IS WHY YOU MUST GO VOTE FOR CD-I LINK IMMEDIATELY. You don’t need to sign up, just go to GameFaqs.com and vote in the poll on the right side of the page. THERE IS NO TIME, YOUR VOTE IS ENOUGH!

Reggie Stops Pretending to be Human

Take a look at this video where Reggie talks on MarketWatch. What’s interesting is not what he’s saying but that Reggie has decided to stop pretending to being even partially human. “Oh surely he’s still 10% human like last year right?” Nope! He decided he doesn’t need such things anymore. Which is probably the right decision. I mean, after you’ve taken perhaps millions of names (soul sucked) what’s the point of pretending you’re human anymore? Reggie knows what he’s doing. Take a look at this picture…

… see? These frames were taken from various points throughout the video. Notice that Reggie no longer blinks except when he’s speaking, which is probably the last thinly veiled mechanism to hide his new identity of Soul Barron. Really it makes sense. Reggie probably communicates on some sort of mind beam now. Normal speech is one of the last human aspects he has had to hold on to.

Why am I tell you this? Well, Reggie collects the souls from whoever he makes direct eye contact with. And this extends into pictures of Reggie. So by capturing a couple thousand of your souls I’m hoping to maybe buy mine back, even though I’m pretty sure it’s pointless, it can’t hurt right?

Virtual Console 100 + WiiWare 27 Update

In life you tend to get a little bit of good and a little bit of bad (unless you’re a loser of course) and this week for the Wii Ware service we’ve got Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3, and Target Toss Pro: Bags. But don’t let that keep you down. When the right now isn’t looking so hot why not live in the past?

For the Virtual Console library we’re treated to SPACE INVADERS: The Original Game for SNES, and FORGOTTEN WORLDS for Sega Genesis.

Space Invaders for SNES. This is the sort of game that you can download to show your kids and make them feel sorry for you when you tell them all about Space Invaders and how you played it all the time *wink wink*. Hell, it would blow their minds! It’s an SNES game… that is a port of an even OLDER arcade classic. They even have simulated colored overlays. “Back in my day color televisions were so expensive sometimes we had to just lay plastic wrap over the screen to get color.”

But of course we all know that’s a lie, but how are they going to know? More details inside!

The Most Fun You’ve Had Making People Hate You

Recently, Atlus released a little game called Dokapon Kingdom for Wii and PS2. As is Atlus’s habit, and partially due to their smallish size, it flew under the radar of most people. This is also partially due to the fact that Atlus seems to hate making money, since they usually do not print a lot of copies of their games; at least for the US market.
Over the past few weekends, Alex and I along with his brother played through the story mode of Dokapon Kingdom. I have to say that it is totally worth it. Now, you may not be able to find this title anywhere but the intertubes, but searching for it and picking it up is something you won’t regret.

Virtual Console 99 + WiiWare 26 Update

Oh wow! Are you going to have trouble picking out a new downloadable game for you Wii? Well let me assist you.

This week the new additions are Brain Challenge for WiiWare, Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam for WiiWare… and Mega Man 3 for NES.

I don’t know what it is, but I can’t see myself buying Brain Challenge or Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam. Then again, I don’t see myself getting Mega Man 3 either, but that’s only because I already own it for NES. … Pro-Tip: If you want something awesome to play this week go for Mega Man 3. It’s my all time favorite Mega Man game. Hell. $5 ain’t bad for such a good game.
