It’s a little lonely this week on the WiiWare front. But actually that’s a good thing. Beer Pong is nowhere in sight, Homestar Runner is selling great, and this WiiWare title is actually sort of interesting.

Introducing Helix, a rythm game that uses the motion sensing abilities of the Wii remote. It’s a little hard to explain, but think of it as DDR with punches. Check out the video on the Nintendo Channel to get a better idea of what’s going on with it. The game features a number of recognizable motions and has 26 songs to boot.

Little late this week. Sorry about that, I’ll say it’s because I wanted that Wario picture to start gracefully floating at the top of the page.

This week the VC gets one game I’ve never heard of YS Book I & II for TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, and one I’m only faintly familiar with, Samurai Shodown II for the NEOGEO.

This is sort of an odd update. YS Book I & II is sort of a complex title from what I can tell, not only in play but also in a technical aspect. This game featured some new and cool stuff at the time and it came on one of those sci-fi optical CD-ROMs. Woah.

Samurai Shodown II is a bit more traditional. Interesting update.

I hope they keep that box art for the US release, too often I see awesome overseas box art replaced with something horrible and cheap for the US releases. Makes me sick. Take note Sega, take note. We like this the style you just showed us.

Yaaaay! Megaman 9 is on the way! But first, let’s remind everyone of how great the original MegaMan games were, and while we’re at it let’s not remember Neo Turf Masters… because really.

This week the Virtual Console is improved with MegaMan for the NES (and also Neo Turf Masters for NEOGEO).

This is one of my favorite MegaMan games, it’s also the first one, and it’s HARD AS HELL. I actually own this one with the famous box art, and it’s my duty to show it to as many people as possible at every opportunity. And while I know a lot of gamers have seen the front of the box I don’t think many are blessed with being able to read the BACK of the box, which is equally awesome. So I’ve scanned my box in and I’m going to provide the interwebs with what I believe are the highest resolution scans of this piece of art, because I’m a nice guy.

As far as I know there hasn’t been a good pool game on Wii as of yet for whatever reason. Then again I haven’t exactly been frantically looking for one either.

This week the WiiWare service brings you Midnight Pool which, as you may have guessed, is a billiards game.

And well, that’s all I can tell you! Have to go on is what I assume is the title screen and a non-helpful desciption… which I will now hand over to you right now! FREE OF CHARGE.

Today for the WiiWare service a game called Wild West Guns has been added to the VC library and get this… it actually looks like a solid enough arcade shooter which is as compatible with the Wii Zapper as a piece of plastic can be. It might not be anything mind blowingly new or something but it honestly looks pretty good. Lots of wild west clichés in there, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
