Virtual Console Update 68

Ohhhh look. It’s the classic 3D racing title Cruis’n USA! Ramming head on into a semi-truck with a motor cycle and winning hasn’t been this the same since.

This week’s VC additions include Cruis’n USA for N64, and Wonder Boy for Sega Master System.

Also, the first Master System game on VC? Hmmm. Better than Cruis’n I bet! (seriously)

King's KnightPOWERBALL

Hey look! A Square Soft title! It’s not what you think it is.  It’s not Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger or anything. It’s King’s Knight for the NES. Running along beside it is Powerball for the Sega Genesis. Both of which I’ve never played!

Actually this isn’t the first Square Soft title on the VC. Actraiser released a bit ago and it’s probably better than both of these two titles combined because Actraiser is awesome.

Everyone Votes Channel Is Finally Cool

The Everyone Votes Channel. A mild and breif distraction from things with more substance. Sure it’s just a polling program, but at least it’s got some flare. It’s too bad the questions are a little dull sometimes.

But recently the Channel finally started asking questions worth answering! Hard questions. Real questions.

Specifically “Which is better? Cake or Pie” and “Which are cooler? Pirates or Ninjas”

NOA localization is doing it’s job as good as ever!

Fun With Brawl’s Replays

We’ve been having fun with Brawl’s replay feature and we decided to make a Brawl version of a popular interweb video (Mudah)

Wii Shop Channel Update

Well, it seems WiiWare is right around the corner. Today Nintendo sent out a firmware update to all the patiently waiting Wiis to allow for some WiiWare specific features in the Shop Channel and maybe on the main menu.

Outside of maybe a firmware version number change there’s no other visible differences. But you might as well grab the update now so you won’t have to do it later.

Virtual Console Update 66

So what are you up for this week? Searching caves for treasure, or killing lots of space aliens with an over-powered craft?

This week’s VC update includes Spelunker for the NES (awesome name), and Super R-Type for the SNES (awesome game).

Of course, we all know that what’s you’re really up for is some Brawl. Else you’re a crazy person! And crazy people are funny, funny, people.

More details about all that great stuff inside!

Bomberman Comes to WiiWare

Kotaku’s just posted a neat little tidbit, hot off the presses in Japan. Looks like Bomberman is coming to WiiWare. Looks as though, from the screenshots, that they’re making a return to the classic grid style of Bomberman. Thumbs up guys, keep this going. We certainly wouldn’t want a repeat of this..*shudder*
(thanks go to Siliconera for the image)

Virtual Console Update 65

Ok. Let’s be honest here… … You know what? Here. This is what they’re called. I don’t know what they are. Don’t ask me!

There’s 2 new titles for the Virtual Console today… and let me read these right… “DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure” for the SNES, and “Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu” for the NES.

I have no idea. One’s an platformer I think and the other is a puzzle game. At least I recongize Puyo Puyo… more details inside.

Having Brawl Disk Read Errors? Follow WeeGee.

When Brawl launched in Japan there were a number of people who reported Brawl, and only Brawl, not working. While that would usually indicate a disk problem it’s typically not the case this time. Basically, Brawl uses a dual layered disk so that it can fit more data onto itself. And basically, it’s a problem with the Wii’s lens being dirty. When this happened in Japan it was reported that Wiis that lived in a smokey enviroment suffered from second hand smoke sticking to the lens.

So for the North American release of Brawl Nintendo has wisely prepared a special web page to deal with exactly this issue. This however means that you’ll have to send in your Wii. Nintendo has claimed to have upgraded their mail capacities and other services to help get your Wii back to you as fast as possible. Plus the shipping is free both ways.

Please follow this link to specially prepared service page. Or you could click WeeGee up there.

I know at least one of you out there is going to need to do this.  Anyone up for timing Nintendo on their response rate?

Are You Ready For Brawl?

Well, this is it. In case you didn’t know Brawl releases in the US this weekend. Rabbid fanboys will swarm the game stores and sometimes partake in midnight maddness tournaments. The crazy ones are content to just wait till morning. It’s the main reason to own a Wii for many, and if it delivers at least as much as the previous installations have, it will have been worth the wait.

I’ve done my best to set up little sections on the site so that Bomb-Omb members will be able to use text chat, set up private room, exchange friend codes the best I can. There’s now a Special Brawl Forum to help contain any Brawl threads so they don’t overtake all the other boards including a Brawl Friend Code List. Don’t forget that you can store all you friend codes in your forum profile as well! Hopefully this will make your online matches a little easier. (Here’s a simple guide to using all the chat features) There is no need for a Bomb-Omb account to use the chatroom.

Also, there is a PC program out now that will let you convert Brawl screenshots into JPEGs called bin2Jpeg (Download). You will need an SD card and an SD card reader for your PC (sometimes camera will work if it takes SD)

Hope everyone enjoys Brawl this weekend. I know I’m excited!
