Wii remote voice input capability revealed?

CNN Money has recently put up an article on “How Wii Won” - and in it, there is a breakdown of the Wii remote and it’s internal components by cost. The breakdown also lists the features of each component. I took the liberty of pointing out these features - take note of the Purple circles that outline important information in this picture of the Wii remote voice translator chip.

Could this mean voice input really is possible through the Wii remote? This sure opens the door to some serious speculation. Why else would Nintendo add in such a (comparatively) expensive component. It costs as much as the BlueTooth chip does!

See that picture? That’s all you really need to know. It’s ActRaiser, one of the most innovative games on the SNES, for 800 points ($8).

Oh there’s some other stuff in here as well, most notably Kid Chameleon on the Genesis. J.J. & Jeff on TurboGrafx16? Not so much. Full details inside.

Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers Trailer

Check out this neat 40 second trailer for Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers for Wii.

Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers

It doesn’t show too much gameplay footage, but at least it’s there. Personally I really like the style they’re using, and as far as I can tell it’s all in-game.

Thanks goes to JeuxFrance for hosting the video

SSBB Sticky Bomb

I thought about if I should post this or not before I decided to go ahead and do it. SmashBros.Com has been live for a few days but today is the first time something new has been releaved. I give you…

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Sticky Bomb

… the sticky bomb. An item that does exactly what you think it does. You pick it up, slap it against someone and wait for the explosion. However, being hit with one of these doesn’t ensure damage. The bomb can be transfered between players by running into them.

The reason I decided to post this is because it sounds like fun. Imagine opening up an item container and having couple of these fall out. Pure madness, and hilarity. According to the latest from Reggie, we can look forward to being all sticky before the end of the year. Let’s see how that pans out. Ha! I’m sorry Reggie, please don’t suck the rest of my soul out.

Metroid Prime 3 Dated!

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Who knows if this date will stick, because Reggie always gets his way. But Metroid Prime 3: Corruption finally has a release date.

Surprisingly, it’s not for November or potentially in 2008. It’s actually fairly soon.. like August, as in three months…. what? Oh right. August 20, 2007

I saw the E3 demo at one of the Fusion Tours (couldn’t get through the lines to play it) and it looked great and controlled well. I know since then they’ve drastically improved the controls and graphics. Hopefully they’ve done the rest of the game right, but this is Retro Studios. I trust they know what they’re doing.

More summer release dates for Wii and DS games are inside by the way. It’s actually worth looking at.

Wendy’s Frosty Wii

Wendy’s is launching some new Frosty thing that has soda in it or something… or maybe it’s like a vanilla chocolate twist combination thing… or maybe it’s both. I don’t know, the point is that these things can potentially get you some Wii stuff.

You see? Here’s how it works. You buy one of these things and you get a code, then you go online go to www.FrostyFloat.com, you enter to code and see if you won anything or not. That’s supposed to give you an instant answer, but I haven’t done it so I can’t say.

Potential prizes include 800 Wii Consoles, 800 Wii games, or 800 Wii Points cards to use in the Shop Channel. You have to be a US resident in any of the 50 states and over the age of 13.

As always, if you win any of this stuff be sure to tell us about it!

Blazing LazersDonkey Kong Country 2Streets of Rage 2

Not a bad couple of titles, not bad at all.  This week includes the vertical space shooter Blazing Lazers for the TurboGrafx16, the sequel to popular pre-rendered platformer Donkey Kong Country 2 for the SNES, and a good old fashion beat em’ up Streets of Rage 2 for the Genesis.

Shooting, cartwheeling, and of course, kicking things in the face!

Virtual Console Update 22

It’s the ninja (with Pac-Man) edition of the VC this week.

Roof-top jumping and wall climbing Ninja Gaiden for NES arrived on the scene with a high jumping Ninja Spirit for TurboGrafx16 sneeking in the door followed closely by a bright yellow, pellet addicted monster, Pac-Man for the NES.

The ninjas quicken the passage to the other world, Pac-Man cleans up the wandering souls.

Virtual Console Update 21

I officially give this weeks virtual console update the “Ok” status. Not great, but not bad either.

I mean, just look at that box art. It just gets me so pumped I feel like I could snap my controller in half! And thanks to Moby Games for having the only decent copy of this box.

This weeks update includes Mighty Bomb Jack for NES, Final Fight for SNES, and Ordyne for TurboGrafx16. I’d only even heard of one of these games (guess which one). Full details inside.
