Virtual Console Update 20

Whips, rice balls, and arm cannons! You can find them all in this weeks VC update.

For the NES we’ve got the 8-bit classic Castlevania, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES, and Shockman for the TurboGrafx16 which is certainly not Megaman in any shape or form!

A pretty solid line-up this week. Full details inside!

Final Fantasy XIII for Wii?

Final Fantasy XIII Logo

Thank god. I’ve been hoping for this for quite a while. Seems Square-Enix finally realized what was going on around them. The next logical question is, what systems? Xbox 360 seems inevitable, but Wii certainly should not be counted out. At least I won’t have to buy a PS3 to continue playing my favorite series.

Also, what about Versus XIII? It seems likely that Square-Enix may just keep it as a PS3 exclusive, but who knows.

Neo Geo coming to Virtual Console

Finally. At long last. We too can now be real hot dogs.

Thanks to an interview with Ben Hermen (president of SNK Playmore USA) over at IGN, we now know that the Neo Geo library will be a new emulated console on the Wii.

That’s not the only good news. They plan on trickling the games in over the course of a year at a couple a month starting sometime this summer. They also plan on releasing worldwide and not one at a time by region.

Estimated prices for the Neo Geo ROMs will be a little above the SNES, probably around $8 - $10.

So the question is: Which is better? Real Hot Dog or emulated Real Hot Dog?
Answer: Heavy Machine Gun

Virtual Console Update 18

A pretty interesting and oh-so-violent update this week for the Virtual Console, check it out.

Punch-Out!! for NES (the non-Mike Tyson one, licensing issues and all that stuff), Bonk’s Revenge for TurboGrafx16, and Virtua Fighter 2 for Genesis. HIT THINGS! … and hit the link to read to read the full descriptions! (will not replace broken LCD monitors or shattered hands)

Full Wii Opera Browser Launches

I’ve been too busy playing Super Paper Mario to notice, but it just so happens that the full version of the Opera Browser for Wii is now available for download.

It’s a major improvement over the beta to say the least. Here are some of the improvements:

  • Faster boot time, bookmarks, runs better overall
  • Improved scrolling and zoom
  • Hiding toolbar
  • Larger view area (takes up whole screen now)
  • Cookie clean-up

…and some other odds and ends. All that’s missing is an updated Flash version (apparently it isn’t updated because of a licensing issue) and USB keyboard support and maybe the ability to save images to the message board. Did I mention it’s a major improvement?

Virtual Console Update 17

I know, I know. Two Virtual Console updates in a row. It’s been sort of a slow week, but at least Super Paper Mario releases today and there’s yet another batch of games for download right?

Oh baby. Galaga is quite possibly my favorite classic arcade game. It’s certainly the one I’ve played the most of. I’ll probably end up downloading it sometime in the future when I need to get my yearly ‘Galaga fix’.

That’s not all for this update though, no sir. There’s two more noticeable items here. They’re BRAVOMAN for TurboGrafx16, and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle for Genesis.

Full details about all that good stuff inside! (Continue)

Virtual Console Update 16

It’s the hot animal loving edition of the VC update. We’ve got mutant ninja turtles, spaceship flying furballs, and a human who has been turned into all kinds of stuff!

Full description of each game inside! Cowabunga!
