Happy Hallowiin

Okay, that was lame, and for that I’m sorry. Forgive me, and take a look at that pumpkin below.

Credit goes to Brian for this.

Way better than I’ve ever done. Credit totally goes to Brian for making these pumpkins. Yes, pumpkins, there’s more for you to look at after the jump/break/ leap of faith.

All credit goes to Brian (again), who brought you the Wiimote costume. You can view his Flickr profile here along with one or two more cool things.

More RedSteel Marketing

Ok. Everyone should know by now that I totally love all the marketing Ubisoft is doing for Raving Rabbids and RedSteel. The bunnies? Hilarious. RedSteel ads? Awesome. Here’s the latest.

Nintendo and Microsoft sueing Sony?

Remember that ‘fact sheet‘ that Sony released which explained the PS3 is cheaper than a 360 Core Pack and the Wii only have free online if you buy it within the first 6 months? Yeah, that was hilarious. Sony sure knows how to entertain. Every time I wake up I get excited just thinking that maybe, just maybe, Phil Harison or Kaz, or some other Sony big wig has made yet another totally awesome comment while I was sleeping.

I totally drew this from memory... sad isn't it?

Well apparently Microsoft and Nintendo weren’t laughing at that one and are sueing the funniest company in the land of the rising sun. Now, I think until some more sites pick up on this I’m going to file this under ‘Rumor’ simply because it just sounds like one. I mean, it’s totally possible, maybe even likely, but who knows. I’m sure if it’s real we’ll hear about it soon.

Sony Attacks Lik-Sang

For Massive Damage! Despite what scary lawyers say, Sony has attacked and dealt massive damage to my favorite game import company, Lik-Sang.Lik-Sang explains: “Fighting multiple lawsuits in different countries at the same time and paying high premiums to expensive lawyers is an overwhelming situation for a small company like Lik-Sang. Launching separate court actions with separate claims and different judges is completely unnecessary, except for the fact that it helps reaching one single target: outspend Lik-Sang to death. ‘Pay Beyond.’”

MASSIVE DAMAGE

I think Sony must socially inept or something. They deserve every single slanderous string of text they’re going to get for this. I know they’ve chosen this moment to do this because they don’t want Europe to import PS3 (which just totally confuses me), but did they think about how much this is just generally going to piss people off?

Rejected Wii Games

Check out this great video CH Staff over at College Humor made. The video is called “Rejected Wii Games” and it’s short and sweet and maybe NFSW.

yay!

For some reason a Hari-Kiri mini game seems reasonably likely in… I don’t know… Red Steel? You can’t find the video? Click the picture above, worthless one!

Pre-Order Necessary?

Both the PS3 and Wii went became available for pre-order this week at GameStop and EB Games stores. But will this guarantee you a system on launch day? That all depends on the store actually.

My local EB Games store is guilty of taking more pre-orders than they can handle. What that means is even though you pre-ordered a console, showed up on launch day early in the morning, and generally went out of your way to make sure you get a system, you can’t. Now, again this depends on how the store handles the pre-order list. My local EB store does it by list order, not who shows up first.

I have nothing but love for the local GameCrazy. GameCrazy is not taking pre-orders as of yet, but there’s a reason. They’re waiting until they know how many consoles they’re going to get. Once they know, pre-orders open up. No stupid horror stories. They even have a pre-pre-order list, meaning they’ll call you once pre-orders are open.

What is the pre-order policy for whatever game store that you frequent? Does you local EB Games store smell like weed and have terrible service like mine?

Interaction Made Easy

A company called AiLive has created a program that makes translating Wii Remote movements easy for programmers to manage. The product, called LiveMove, can interpret a large variety of pre-determined motions as well including writing. This kit is exclusive to Wii developers and is priced at $2,500 each. That’s cheap for any kind of development tool by the way.

Check out the features

This is great news. It will let developers, no matter how small they are, program games that use complicated movements, which I figure would be the hardest part of delevoping for the Wii. AiLive Press Release

Update:

A cool video of this software being used has been uploaded here.

Accessorize

There’s a slew, that’s right a slew, of little Wii add-ons, including four different video/audio connectors, a USB wire LAN adapter, and a Nintendo branded SD Card, have just been detailed on the Japanese website.

Japanese Nintendo website (Google translated for your amusement)

Can someone tell me what the cable pictured above is? The site says it’s for a TV with a “D terminal” plug. The only D video connector I know of is the analog type that’s on my PC graphics card. Perhaps this will let the Wii connect directly to a monitor? Any clarification on that would be a greatly appreciated.

D-Terminal plug is not for VGA connectors like that on monitors. Thanks goes out to NintendoGamer17 for this information!

People going Wii

Do you like watching extremely expressive people play games? I know you do. That’s why Nintendo has updated the Wii site to include plenty of videos of people doing just that! Now, there’s all playing Wii Sports but that’s OK.

Oh my gosh!

The site has videos with some interesting titles such as This woman experiences the Wii Remote for the first time. I’ll let that one sink in.

Nintendo of Japan did a similar thing back when the DS was about to be launched. I always thought it was a good idea, looks like they’ve adapted and expanded it for Wii.

Smash Bros. Poll

You’ve probably seen this topic before, it’s very common. However, I have a soft spot for people who make suggestions (Thanks Art3). So, here it is, the Smash Bros. Character poll.

Smash Bros. Character Poll 1 <-- Vote

Now before someone says something I better make this clear. Yes, I know this doesn’t have all the characters. This poll is for the standard characters for games that are already released only. No Smash Bros. Brawl characters… yet. Next up, unlockable characters.
