Mario theme similarities

Sort of interesting, check out the similarities between the Mario Bros. underworld theme and a song called “The Real Thing” by Friendship. (I wasn’t born for another 9 years so excuse me not know who the hell these guys are)
Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo

Amusing discovery thanks to MauBrownCow.Com.

Speaking of music (of sorts) we’re going to Fusion Tour on Saturday to demo some Wii and DS games OSU! Some band by the name of Hawthone Heights (I’m totally ignorant of what music is hip so excuse me for not knowing who the hell these guys are) is going to be there for our annoyment.

If they let us take video there’ll be some cool stuff to look a day or two after. No promises, cameras or recording equipment of any kind arn’t allowed to most concerts as far as I know. We’ll try to reason with them. “But sir, I’m not here for … who are they again? … Oh right, right… we’re here to demo some games.”

I’ll keep you updated on how getting my ass beat by scary Hawthone Heights fans and security goes.

Something Awful owns

One of my favorite sites, SomethingAwful.Com, has a Flash video that I found greatly entertaining. It’s about all the people unreasonably whining (mainly on the Nintendo forums it seems) about such devistating topics such as: $250 console price (as opposed to $200), $60 Wiimote (with nunchuku), and first party launch games.

Something Awful Flash Tub: A Whiney Nerd Complains About Stuff

Favorite line from the entire video? “There is no Wii enabled porn yet”

Lowtax, Fragmaster, Shmorky… You rule.

Heroes Trailer

Remember hearing about a Wii game called Heroes? The trailer was accidently leaked a while ago and you can find it for download on such places like YouTube. Today they re-released the trailer with some *cough* minor touch ups.
The new trailer has MUCH better voice acting, still not wonderful but much improved.

Compare the two:

Huh? You want me to thank you for this update? Seriously, I think even “What? Me worry?” would fit better. But then, I think the voice acting style may be like that on purpose. Whatever, Suda 51 is cool.

1337 Beat Agents

OSU! Elite Beat Agents for the DS (AKA Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) now has a US release date.

OSU! Elite Beat Agents will be shipping November 8th, 2006. The game has been localized for the US. Whether or not that’s a good thing has yet to be seen, but judging from some screens I’ve seen the game seems to retain the general style and humor that the Japanese version seemed to have.

I have actually never played the Japanese version (Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) although I have considered importing it many times. I know there’s a good deal of people who actually have so I’m going to have to ask what you guys thought of it and if you’re going to pick up the US version.

OSU! The Nintendo DS download stations that you can find in stores have gotten an update of demos which includes an Elite Beat Agents download. I assume it’s a single song. I went to the local GameCrazy today, but unfortunately they didn’t have their new demo card yet.

(one last time!)
OSU!

Red Steel phone message

I’d like to thank GamePrey for bringing this to my attention. Apparently, in the latest issue of Game Informer there’s an ad for Red Steel. There’s instructions to cut out this area of text that has Japanese characters all over it. After you follow the instructions and fold the paper you end up with a ninja throwing star with a phone number on it, 1-877-RRD-STLL (1-877-773-7855).
I called the phone number and recorded the message so everyone can download it. It’s pretty funny. I’m working on getting the paper ad to post on here as well.

Download the phone recording here

Personally, I think this is great enough to provide some more free advertising. What do think of this ad?

Where’s Reggie?

It’s time to play a little game. I’m going to show you four frames from an IGN video. You try to find four instances where you see Reggie.

Where'es Waldo?

That reminds me. I should post this one Reggie video I’ve been holding onto before it becomes more than two years old.

While I’m posting I might as well express my true hatred for Microsoft Internet Explorer. It seems to be unable to do any formatting correcly while FireFox and Opera do it perfectly. Poll options stagger instead of being all lined up on the left. PNG images don’t display correctly. Frames get layered and misplaced. It’s slow, it’s insecure, it’s vulerable to massive ammounts of pop-ups, it’s out of date. *insert plug for FireFox here, oh wait, I’ll do it for free*

Seriously, at least try FireFox or Opera out. I’m tired of tending to this obsolete and inferior browser when I’m laying out the site. Do everyone a favor and Get FireFox

Wii Plays MP3

It’s confirmed by Nintendo: The Wii will play MP3 (not Metroid Prime 3) music files from the SD card.

The US Wii website says “Users can even add an MP3 tune from their SD memory card to their slide shows.” when describing the Photo Channel. This means that the Wii does infact have MP3 playback capibility.

What does this mean? It means we may also look forward to playing those MP3’s during games or maybe intergrating your own media into games. The Mii avatars are already an example of this.

What new features do you think this opens up for the Wii and its games?
