You know what’s lame? Numbers. Numbers are lame! So no longer will I be titling the Nintendo Download posts with numeral. Instead we’re going to go by what game I personally determine to be the most awesome. Don’t like the game I pick? Well, you’re welcome to cry about it. With that said I’m of course making the title of this post a DUAL game edition.

This week on WiiWare the Wii component of WarioWare DIY appears along with a Wii version of the popular Diner Dash game.

The virtual console get ACTUAL LEGITIMATE USE this week as Orge Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (terrible sub-title) appears. This game WAS FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE to find when it came out. Which is too bad because it’s an excellent game that holds up today.

Over on the DSiWare section we’ve got Disney Fireworks, Save the Turtles (awesome name), and “Nintendo DSi Metronome” which is exactly what it sounds like, although it apparently does infact have a small game to it. We’ve also got the “Nintendo DSi Instrument Tuner” which also has a mini game to it. Both these apps work via the built in Mic in the DS, which is sort of cool… We’ve also got “Super Tum Tum Puzzle Adventures” which I know next to nothing about, but the press release inside should help you out with that.

Guess what today is? Cave Story day. That is to say, the day Cave Story is released on WiiWare. In case you don’t know Cave Story is a game that was developed by a single person named Daisuke Amaya in 2004 for the PC. Since then Nicalis picked it up and has created a faithful WiiWare port. Independent development is something that should be supported as the projects can result in interesting software, and the publishers willing to risk money on these projects should be supported as well. More importantly Cave Story stands out because it is also an excellent game.

Let’s not forget our more traditional developers though. I’ll be updating this post later today as at the moment I do not have the official release list of what’s going up other than Cave Story.

Turns out there isn’t much else going up besides Cave Story this week in WiiWare. Nothing infact. No VC titles either! However the DS has a nice batch of new titles. Drift Street International, Libera Wing, and three Game & Watch games! More detail inside

This week the anticipated Max and the Magic Marker hits WiiWare, which is an interesting puzzle platformer where objects you draw become physical objects. Also you may notice there are two Dracula - Undead Awakening images. Also on DSiWare we’ve got Elemtntal Master, 4 Travellers - Play Spanish (?), and Flips: The Bubonic Builders (another book thing). That’s no mistake as this game has a WiiWare and a DSiWare counterpart.

Let’s not forget about Final Fantasy II on the VC either.

Let’s see here a decent looking tennis game on DSiWare, a classic on VC, also a book on DSiWare? Sort of interesting. Also something called MEGA MAN 10. I loved Mega Man 9 so this is an instant buy for me. I’ll just let Nintendo explain the rest.

The number 10 can mean a lot of things: perfection, loud volume or, in the case of this week’s downloadable game lineup, the return of a true gaming icon. Fans will thrill to see the legendary blue bomber landing on their Wii console with the arrival of Mega Man 10 for the WiiWare service. Elsewhere, players can test their skill at tossing darts, bashing moles, conquering the tennis court or tackling exotic golf courses. Whether you’re stocking up on living room-ready titles for your Wii console or grabbing on-the-go games via the Nintendo DSiWare service, March is off to a truly magnificent start.

Let’s say you’re relaxing at home, but something doesn’t seem quite right. Maybe your house has ghosts. Clearly you need to get GhostSlayer, with its Wii MotionPlus accessory functionality, to figure out how to deal with them. Or maybe your house has a mouse. Mouse House puzzles seem the logical choice for you. Maybe you just need to get out of the house and try some fresh air with Family Go-Kart Racing. If it seems a bit brighter than usual outdoors, that’s probably because Aura-Aura, the star of Aura-Aura Climber, has fallen out of the sky. While you’re out having fun, take and share some crazy pictures of your friends and family with Faceez, or spend a few relaxing hours directing flights with Flight Control. And while you’re out there, you might want to spend some time helping a little boy recover his lost pet goldfish, Flipper.

Let’s run down through the highlights here. We’ve got Alex Kidd in Shinobi World, Blaster Master Overdrive, Legends of Exidia, Link N Launch, Phoenix Wright Justice for All, Prehistorik Man, Scrabble, Rollway Puzzle, Sonic & Knuckles, Tales of Monkey Island Episode 5, and The Art of Balance.

You know what? Not bad. Not bad at all. I can personally say that the Blaster Master remake is still extremely difficult, be warned though, there’s no classic controller support. The sleeper on this list may in-fact be The Art of Balance as it looks like an actual well made run physics game. Sonic & Knuckles is a classic. Link N Launch also looks intriguing to me for some reason.

So once again I got vanished for way too long and I’ve been neglecting the Download updates. Instead of just listing off each title here I’ll just comment on the ones you might care about. Why have I returned all of the sudden? Why now? Because today the best game in the universe was released in the US on WiiWare. I’m of course talking about MUSCLE MARCH. It’s $5 ok? 5! Not 10! I have to admit this now, but I modified my Wii to play the Japanese version of this illegally just because I knew that it would never get outside Japan. Shortly after that the Nintendo Channel started looking at what titles everyone was playing… and then it was announced Muscle March would see a US release. Coincidence? I think not. I hold fast to the belief that pirates got this a US release, and I’m buying Muscle March for real now so calm down.

Also there were other notable releases. Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth is a great title that is worth your time and money. Dark Void Zero, a neat looking DSiWare lost title from the SNES era. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney has been ported from DS to Wiiware, which is identical to the DS version and not a new game unfortunately. Trajectile from Nintendo on DSiWare is a interesting puzzle game that’s worth a look. PilotWings on SNES hit the VC along with a couple other classic titles like Smash Bros 64 (which I guess is classic now). The amazing arcade laser disk game Dragon’s Lair saw a port to the DSiWare service. A Rayman game was released on DSiWare, which I really don’t know too much about, but it’s a new game as far as I can tell. And finally the 4th chapter of Monkey Island on Wiiware showed up!

I’m skipping over a ton of title here, which I apologize for, but the ones I mentioned stand out almost as much as MUSCLE MARCH

If you enjoyed Mega Man 9 and it’s awesome box art like I did, then you’ll be excited about the totally rad announcement of Mega Man 10 and it’s box art! Mega Man 10 follows in 9’s footsteps, retaining that tried and true 8-bit NES style. So just right there I’m sold, but take a closer look at this art (higher res here). It’s got all those flaws the old box art did. Mega Man has an arm cannon (on the correct arm this time) but has some sort of laser gun. Proto Man looks like Shredder from TMNT, Sheep Man at the left, a robot dragon with tit guns, and Dr. Wiley’s castle mounted akwardly on some sort of space ship. Pure win.

Dear Capcom, make this box available for purchase! It doesn’t have to come in an NES cart like the Mega Man 9 press kit did. Just a DVD case inside the NES case would suffice. Pleeeeeeeease?

Among the latest downloadable games from Nintendo is BIT.TRIP VOID, a riveting new installment in the extraordinary retro-arcade series for the WiiWare service. You’ll also find some remarkable kid-friendly fare on WiiWare this week, including the immersive Harvest Moon: My Little Shop. Race-loving Mario fans will thrill to see the original Super Mario Kart make its Virtual Console debut alongside the imaginative A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia. The Nintendo DSiWare service welcomes Castle Of Magic - featuring some inventive uses for the Nintendo DSi system’s built-in cameras - as well as five delightful additions to the Electroplankton series.

This week is a little special for Wii. The New Super Mario Bros. game for Wii is out and getting great reviews and the WiiWare services has introduced downloadable demos for certain WiiWare titles. This, is a good trend.

For WiiWare we have Pokémon Rumble and 4 demos for Bit.Trip.Beat, FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a Darklord, NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, and World of Goo.

For DSiWare there’s Art Style: DIGIDRIVE, Arcade Bowling, and Robot Rescue.

Then finally over on VC Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures for SNES and STREET FIGHTER II’: CHAMPION EDITION for the TurboGrafx16.

Also, if you have a Club Nintendo account there is a special bonus for you in Pokémon Rumble.
